Instagram post performance checker
Instagram post performance includes likes, comments and follows. Find your best posts in Insights, then check how evenly they earn likes.
Grow this number a little every day.
Promote your public Instagram profile to your chosen audience. Growth follows a daily limit that increases with your account size, so a small account cannot receive a large plan's full range.

What the number means
Instagram post performance shows how people respond to your content and what they do next. On a business or creator profile, open Insights, find Posts and select See all to sort by metric and timeframe. This checker adds a consistency score: how evenly likes are spread across your recent public posts.
Read the score alongside average likes and best-post likes. Together, they show whether your average represents a typical post or gets much of its strength from one standout.
How it works
- 1
Enter the username of a public Instagram profile.
- 2
The tool checks up to 24 recent posts, including Reels, and excludes pinned posts from the consistency calculation.
- 3
See your consistency score, average likes and best-post likes.
| Score | Label | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 70 to 100 | Steady | Like counts are relatively similar. |
| 40 to below 70 | Mixed | Like counts vary noticeably. |
| 10 to below 40 | Spiky | Like counts vary widely. |
Does one Instagram post carry your average?
Compare average likes with best-post likes first. If the best post sits far above the average, inspect the rest before using that average as your target. The score summarizes the spread across all eligible posts, rather than comparing your account with another creator.
Formula: score = 100 minus 50 multiplied by the coefficient of variation, bounded between 10 and 100. The coefficient is standard deviation divided by average likes. The worked example below uses population standard deviation, treating its three posts as the complete set.
How to see your best performing posts on Instagram
Use Instagram Insights to rank your own posts by the result you care about. Insights is available on business and creator profiles. Likes answer a response question; profile visits and follows show what people did next.
Choose one metric and timeframe before comparing posts. Then write down the topic, format and presentation of the leaders. That gives you something specific to test, rather than simply trying to repeat a high number.
- Open your Instagram profile and select Insights.
- Find the posts or content section and select See all.
- Choose a timeframe, then filter or sort by your chosen metric.
- Open a leading post and tap View insights for its individual results.
Why are my Instagram posts underperforming?
Check five possible explanations before changing your content plan. Start with differences you can inspect directly, then choose one change for your next post.
A standout inflated the average.
Compare the weaker post with ordinary posts, not just your biggest success.
The topic changed.
Write down which subjects appear in your leading posts.
The format changed.
Filter your Insights comparison by post type.
The presentation changed.
Compare the image, opening frame and visual style with stronger posts.
The publishing rhythm changed.
Use the posting frequency checker to inspect posts per week and the gap since your latest post.
Public post data and check times
Your numbers come from the public profile and its recent posts. The result shows when they were checked and whether the data is fresh or cached. Public profile data can be reused for up to 6 hours; this free check provides one result rather than a performance history.
The Checked date above records this page's review date, not your account's check time. Run the free scan for strongest and weakest posts using the same profile data.
Same average, different performance

- 400 of 600: two-thirds
How do you see your best performing posts on Instagram?
Open Instagram Insights on your business or creator profile, then find Posts and select See all. Choose a timeframe and sort by the metric you want to compare. Open a leading post and tap View insights for its individual results. Use likes when comparing your posts with this checker's consistency score.
Why are my Instagram posts underperforming?
Start by comparing weaker posts with your strongest posts using the same metric. Look for differences in topic, format and presentation, then check whether one exceptional post has inflated your average. Study your successful content for patterns, then choose one difference to test in your next posts.
How is the score calculated?
The score measures variation in likes relative to your own average. It subtracts 50 times the coefficient of variation from 100 and keeps the result between 10 and 100. The calculation needs at least 3 eligible posts. Higher scores indicate more similar like counts across the sample.
Does the score measure Instagram posting consistency?
No, this score measures how evenly posts earn likes, not how regularly you publish. An account can post on a regular schedule and still have uneven results. The Instagram posting frequency tool checks posts per week and days since the last post, which answers the schedule question separately.
Does it need my password?
No, this username lookup reads public profile data without an Instagram login. Enter the handle of the account you want to check. Ganicly never asks for your Instagram password or takes actions inside your account, so you can review available public post performance without connecting the account.
Can I check a personal Instagram account?
Yes, the checker can analyze a public personal profile as well as a public business or creator profile. It needs enough eligible posts to calculate the score. Instagram Insights is different: it shows owner-only post insights for business and creator profiles.
